Embarking on the AI Digital journey: My experience as a new graduate

Early in 2023, Glen Parrish joined the AI Digital team as our very first Management Trainee.

With the combined decades of experience across our team, it’s important to us that we offer learning and development opportunities for those who are new to the industry – and their careers.

Since then, he’s worked on a variety of internal projects with people from across the organisation and has recently graduated from the University of Lincoln with a first in his Business Management degree.

Here, we catch up with him to find out more about what’s he’s gained from his experience.

“As a recent graduate in business management, I embarked on my journey from academia to the corporate world with a mix of excitement and nervousness. Reflecting on that transition, I couldn’t be more thrilled with both the outcome and the journey I’ve experienced to date.

I was approached by AI Digital’s recruitment team during my final term at university, as they were looking to offer a graduate opportunity to the right candidate. Although I had not yet finished my studies, I was eager to start my professional career. The positive experience I had during the recruitment process not only bolstered my confidence in my suitability for the role but also assured me that I would have the support of the team once I joined the company.

That’s something that has remained a constant since I started my position as a Management Trainee. During my time to date, I’ve shadowed many of the team across different facets of the business including the marketing team, HR, project management, and I’m currently undertaking a placement in the operational team.

Some of the key work that I have been involved with has been the creation of a new recruitment site, competitor analysis in support of framework applications, training on our new, internal CRM system, the creation of a skills matrix and most recently the establishment of a Project Management Office and Project Support Officer.

This unique opportunity has allowed me to explore and contemplate which area of business I want to specialise in, a flexibility not often found in other graduate programs.

I’ve found myself in a perfect balance of responsibility, pressure and support, which has ultimately nurtured my confidence in the quality of work I produce. This journey has been both enlightening and empowering, and I look forward to continuing to grow and contribute within this dynamic corporate environment.”
